Harmonicas and Ocarinas
Sometimes
participants have difficulty playing wind instruments, but these are relatively
easy on which to produce a sound. They have a variety of uses...
Harmonicas - Create sounds by exhaling and inhaling
while moving the instrument side to side across your lips to produce different
notes. In this way, harmonicas can be used to encourage and reinforce the
outward blow and inward sucking actions.
They can be used specifically in
appropriate environments where they would culturally be found, as in America,
brought by emigrants. They are great in ‘chills-outs’ in a log cabin for
example, or to encourage dancing when played with guitar in a folk song setting
An
ocarina is a type of vessel flute with
four to twelve finger holes. It is traditionally made from clay, but other
materials are also used.
Ocarinas can mimic the sounds of
birds beautifully. It is essential to have one per person and they will need
cleaning at the end of each session.
